Classen Fuhrmanns & Partner advised Bock Group on the sale to GEA Group

After approval by the antitrust authorities, the former family-owned Bock Kältemaschinen GmbH has been acquired by Refrigeration Technologies GmbH, a segment of the GEA Group.

The Bock Kältemaschinen GmbH is a leading supplier of open and semi-hermetic piston compressors for stationary and transport-related cooling applications. Among typical end customers of Bock compressors are the leading branded producers of food and beverages as well as some of the largest food retail chains. Besides the main factory and headquarter in Frickenhausen, Bock has subsidiaries in the Czech Republic, India and China, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia and Australia. The Bock Group has some 340 employees and a turnover of approximately EUR 65 m in 2010.

GEA Group AG is one of the largest system providers for food and energy processes with about EUR 4.4 billion in 2009 revenue. The company group, listed in the German MDAX index, gains about 70 percent of its revenue in the long-term growing food and energy industries and has more than 20,000 employees worldwide.

On the side of Bock Kältemaschinen GmbH, the transaction was legally assisted by Classen Fuhrmanns & Partner under the leadership of Dr. Dirk Classen.

The partnership started as a Spin-off from a Boutique specialized on M&A in January 2010, in which the three founding partners had worked together for many years. The main focus lies in counseling medium-sized companies in commercial law. Having conducted a large number of complex, often transnational corporate transactions, Classen Fuhrmanns & Partner is specialized in the area of Mergers and Acquisitions.
