Classen Fuhrmanns & Partner advised Kajo Neukirchen Group on the sale of LGI to the Swedish Elanders Group

The Kajo Neukirchen Group sold its majority shareholding in LGI Logistics Group International, one of the leading companies in contract logistics in Europe, to the Swedish Elanders Group. LGI is currently employing around 4,000 people located at more than 45 sites in Europe, the United States and Russia. In 2015, LGI achieved a turnover of around 430 million EUR. The transaction still needs to be approved by the cartel authorities.

LGI designs and provides warehouse logistics, production processes, shipping and transport management (land, air, and sea), and customs services for clients in the automotive, electronics, fashion & lifestyle, healthcare & life sciences, and industrial sectors. The service portfolio includes production logistics, distribution logistics and reverse logistics. The company formed out of Hewlett-Packard Germany in 1995.
Dr. Michael Bauer, CFO of the Kajo Neukirchen Group, says: “Elanders has prevailed in an intense bidding process as the buyer of LGI. We are very pleased with the result of the bidding process.”
Kajo Neukirchen GmbH is an Eschborn-based family owned business and specialised in acquisitions of medium-sized family owned firms and corporate spin-offs. The company was founded by Dr. Kajo Neukirchen, who was the CEO of SKF, Klöckner-Humboldt-Deutz (today Deutz AG, Cologne), Hoesch and mg technologies (today GEA Group AG) for many years. The transaction was structured by Rothschild & Co. and legally advised by Classen Fuhrmanns & Partner. The law firm already provided the Kajo Neukirchen Group with legal advice within numerous transactions, e. g. in 2012 conducting the acquisition of LGI from the Willi Betz Group or in 2013 conducting the acquisition of ITG (today an important subsidiary of LGI with a turnover of around 150 million EUR in 2014) from Deutsche Post/DHL Group.
“The cooperation with our advisors has greatly contributed to the success of the sale", said Dr. Birgit Chorianopoulos, responsible for M&A in the Kajo Neukirchen Group.

The following advisers of Classen Fuhrmanns & Partner were involved in the transaction: Dr. Dirk Classen (lead management), Dr. Achim Fuhrmanns, Frauke Classen, Torsten Decker M.A., Rudolf Bonn and Dr. Lars Störring.
